The Minority in Parliament has opposed the passage of the Social Protection Bill, 2025, citing the absence of a constitutionally required quorum during proceedings on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

During the third reading of the bill, First Deputy Minority Whip and Tolon MP, Habib Iddrisu, raised an objection, insisting that the number of MPs present was insufficient to approve the legislation.

According to adomonline.com report on July 31, 2025, he called for the process to be suspended until due procedures were followed. "We cannot allow such an important piece of legislation to be passed without the required quorum.

Parliament must respect its own rules if we want the public to take our work seriously," the report said.
