The National Association of Bimoba, Moba and Gurma (NABMAG) has condemned last Saturday's gruesome murder of two students of the Nalerigu Senior High Secondary School (NSHSS) in the North East region. The killing of the two believed to be Bimoba's is linked to the Bawku Chieftaincy conflict currently raging.A statement issued and signed by the president of the association, Mr Amos M.

Konsab and copied to the Ghanaian Times here on Tuesday, said the students were abducted from their dormitory while asleep and shot dead by unidentified gunmen.Identified as Kakariba Lukba and Gilbert Nabila, the two were said to hail from Denugu, a Bimoba community in the Upper East Region. The statement noted that this was the second time within half a year that Bimobas had been killed in Mamprugu in connection with the Bawku Chieftaincy conflict. It recalled that in February this year, a bus belonging to a Bimoba man was burnt at Loagri near Walewale leading to the death of fiveBimobas. The statement said the perpetrators of this heinous crime were still walking freely as the security agents had failed to arrest and prosecute them."NABMAG condemn this barbaric act in no uncertain terms.

It is unacceptable, criminal, wicked and shameful.

We wish to state categorically that" the statement added.According to the statement, the Bimobas both in Kusaug and Mamprugu had never been part of the Kuasasi-Mamprusis conflict and have no interest in it.The statement said the continuous unprovoked attacks on Bimobas were an attempt to drag them into the conflict. It therefore called on the security agencies to act swiftly by arresting and questioning the school authorities, the roommates of the students and all other persons who were deemed complicit in the murder of the students. The statement further added that failure of the security to investigate, arrest and punish criminal elements perpetrating these heinous crimes would be a subtle endorsement and would provoke further attacks."These unprovoked attacks, if unabated, could elicit a response by way of self-defence", the statement addedThe association also called on the Mamprugu Youth Association to take the needed actions to ensure the safety of Bimobas within their jurisdiction. It also appealed to all feuding factions in the Bawku Chieftaincy conflict to give peace a chance and cooperate with the Otumfuo-led mediation to resolve the issue BT TIMES REPORTER
