Carlisle United head coach Mark Hughes has confirmed that the trialist midfielder who featured in their 2-0 pre-season victory over Harrogate Town is Ghanaian Jed Abbey.
The 23-year-old, who was born in The Hague, Netherlands, to Ghanaian parents, came on as a second-half substitute, replacing Callum Whelan after 68 minutes.
Abbey, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers youth player, impressed at Alfreton Town last season in the National League North and has been training with the Carlisle squad in recent days. "He's scored goals from midfield, and he's a big, physical guy," Hughes told the News & Star. "That's a bit of the area that we're looking at.
I thought he did okay.
