The (NPP) has directed all aspiring presidential candidates to suspend their campaign activities and focus solely on the upcoming Akwatia by-election.

Addressing a press conference at the party's headquarters in Asylum Down on Tuesday, July 29, the General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, said the decision is part of efforts to mobilise the full strength of the party towards retaining the Akwatia seat. "The decision of the party is that since we have an important by-election coming up, the Akwatia by-election, all attention and focus must be directed there.

Aspiring candidates shall have the right to move around the country to campaign only after the Akwatia by-election," he stated.

The General Secretary appealed to all party faithful, particularly aspiring candidates, to channel their time, energy, and resources into the Akwatia campaign. "We are calling on every member of this party, especially those who aspire to contest as flagbearer that their attention and resources should be geared towards helping the party to retain our seat in Akwatia," he added.
