The Member of for Abuakwa South, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, has described the government's response to the escalating Mpox outbreak in Ghana as "very, very abysmal," citing a lack of seriousness and deliberate public health action.
Speaking in an interview, Dr Agyemang expressed concern over the apparent low level of public awareness and governmental engagement, particularly in the area of health promotion.
According to him, despite the rising number of cases, over 200 infections and one confirmed death, the government has not adequately educated the public or involved 's Health Select Committee in its response strategy. "Let's not joke with our health, especially when viral conditions are involved," he stated.
Dr Agyemang challenged the media and health authorities to assess how many Ghanaians truly understand the protocols required to control the spread of Mpox.
