The Special Committee set up by the leadership of the (NPP) has settled on Solomon Kwame Asumadu as the party's parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-election in Akwatia.
Addressing the press at Parliament on Monday, July 28, 2025, the chairman of the Special Committee, Jeff Konadu, who is also the NPP Eastern Regional Chairman, said that they settled on Kwame Asumadu, the CEO of Owuo Mining Company, after an agreement by all interested parties.
He said that the party will now acclaim the Chief Executive Officer of Owuo Mining Company as its parliamentary candidate, with the acclamation set to follow in due course.
He explained that the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) was tasked to find out whether there was a need for primaries to elect a candidate for the election.
