The Minority Caucus in Parliament has criticised the government's proposed road infrastructure agenda in the 2025 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review, describing it as skewed, politically motivated, and lacking in transparency.
In a statement dated July 28, 2025, and signed by the Ranking Member on the Roads and Transportation Committee, Osei Kennedy Nyarko, the Minority said the list of road projects under the government's "Big Push Programme" shows a clear regional bias and fails to prioritise critical national corridors such as the Accra-Kumasi Road. "The list is heavily skewed toward certain regions while neglecting more populous and economically strategic areas like Greater Accra and Ashanti, which together account for over 35% of Ghana's population," the statement said.
According to the Minority, key projects like the Accra-Kumasi Road rehabilitation, as well as bypasses at Nsawam, Osino, Enyeresi, and Konongo, are either absent or have been omitted from the priority list, despite being crucial for national connectivity and economic efficiency.
The Caucus also accused the government of repackaging projects initiated under the previous administration as new ones, citing the Wa-Han, Navrongo-Tumu, Sunyani Outer Ring Road, and Tema-Aflao Road as examples.
