The government has declared a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons by individuals within the Nalerigu and Bawku Townships and their surrounding areas.
A statement released by the Minister for the Interior on July 27, 2025, warned residents that anyone found in possession of such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
A curfew has also been imposed on Nalerigu Township and its environs due to the disturbances.
Another statement released on Sunday, July 27, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President, emphasised that the curfew imposed on Bawku and its environs is intended to facilitate a safe and orderly evacuation process for students.
