The Director of Legal Affairs for the (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has cautioned the public against linking the recent killing of students in Bawku to the ongoing chieftaincy dispute.
According to him, the actions of the culprits amount to plain criminality and must be dealt with decisively.
Speaking on TV3 Newday on Monday, July 28, 2025, Edudzi Tameklo stated that, to his understanding, the chieftaincy matter is under discussion and peace talks are ongoing-hence his assertion that the recent incident bears no connection to it. "When you carry a gun or machete, and you go to a secondary school and discharge that firearm into a school, thereby fatally wounding a student, that's not chieftaincy dispute, that is crime.
So, we need to draw a clear distinction between criminality and issues about chieftaincy.
