The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has expressed concern over what he believes are attempts by certain elements to incite unrest and derail the progress being made by the Asantehene, , in resolving the Bawku conflicts.
During an appearance on TV3's NewDay on Monday, July 28, 2025, Edudzi Tameklo raised concerns over recent killings in the Ashanti Region, questioning why faceless individuals would attempt such acts.
He suggested that these developments may be deliberate efforts to "export" the Bawku chieftaincy conflict to the Ashanti Region, where the Asantehene, , who is currently leading mediation efforts in the Bawku dispute resides. "Look, it is obvious that some people are trying so hard to, as it were, export the conflict beyond that enclave into the Ashanti Region.
It also does appear that there are some people who are not happy that there will be peace in those areas. "Because why in God's name would you want to go and kill in Ashanti Region knowing very well that it is where Otumfuo is and he is leading this mediation.
