Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has praised the performance of his players for emerging as the champions of the 2025 Toyota Cup. The Ghanaian heavyweights faced PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban over the weekend.
After drawing goalless after 90 minutes of football, Kotoko won 3-2 on a penalty shootout to lift the trophy.
Speaking to the media after the game, the veteran gaffer commended the playing body for sticking to the game plan. "I am pleased with the result and also the performance of my players," Zito said after the game. "With the new players, I knew I was not going to get what I wanted, but I assigned them certain responsibilities, and I was looking at it," he added.
Asante Kotoko arrived in Ghana on Sunday night and are expected to break camp before reassembling for the GHALCA Top 4 tournament, which has been scheduled for August 20-24 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
