Emmanuel Nettey has revealed that he turned down Hearts of Oak's contract offer before joining Iraqi side Duhok SC in 2022.
Speaking candidly about the circumstances that led to his exit, Nettey said he waited patiently for Hearts of Oak to respond with a deal while already having an offer from Duhok prepared by his agent.
Despite training with the team, the club delayed their official proposal. "I had the contract prepared but I was waiting for Hearts of Oak's offer so I decide what to do," said the 33-year-old midfielder, who joined Hearts in January 2020. "I went home on Friday just after leaving training.
I had a call from the president of the Iraqi club asking if I was coming because they had a match on Monday," he revealed on 3Sports WarmUpPlus on Saturday.
