Ghana is in mourning following the passing of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, one of the greatest highlife musicians the country has ever produced. The celebrated artist died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness, at the age of 60.
His family officially announced his death in a statement signed by their legal representative, Fati Ali Yallah.Born on September 29, 1964, Daddy Lumba rose from humble beginnings in Nsuta, Ashanti Region, to become a household name across Ghana and beyond.
With a music career spanning over three decades, he delivered more than 30 albums-each filled with songs that deeply resonated with the Ghanaian spirit.
His music offered everything from soulful love ballads to bold social commentary.
