Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei says the team is still reeling from their failure to qualify for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, despite finishing third in the WAFU B U20 Boys Cup held on home soil.

The Black Satellites were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage of the U20 AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire earlier this year, dashing their hopes of reaching the World Cup.

Speaking after Wednesday's 2-0 win over Niger at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Ofei admitted the disappointment remains. "It's not been easy because I think we're very disappointed after Egypt.

We really wanted to qualify for the World Cup," he said. "We had to dust ourselves really quickly to come back and get the team ready to participate in this tournament." Despite a largely changed squad, Ofei found positives in the tournament. "We gave a lot of opportunity to new and young talented boys and we showed quality in some moments," he added.
