Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren says his side has made significant improvements ahead of their third-place playoff against South Africa at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana will be looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking semifinal exit, where they lost 4-2 on penalties to host nation Morocco after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Reflecting on his team's journey, Björkegren highlighted the progress they've made since their opening Group C loss to South Africa, who ran out 2-0 winners in that clash. "I think we are already a better team now than we were a few weeks ago," he said. "That first game against South Africa was quite even — a 50-50 game.

They scored, we didn't. "But I always knew this team needed time to grow into the tournament.
