The Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has disclosed a fresh case of ammunition theft within the Ghana Armed Forces.

This recent revelation is distinct from the 2024 incident in which thousands of rounds of military-grade ammunition were transferred to the National Security Secretariat without proper consultation or authorization, and remain unaccounted for.

During a working visit to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, Dr Boamah attributed the latest theft to the complicity of individuals entrusted with safeguarding the ammunition. "Just when I thought the 2024 issue was being addressed, we've uncovered another case of ammunition theft, which occurred even before the transfer," he stated.

Dr Boamah stressed the importance of making these developments public to assure citizens that ammunition found in civilian possession is not the result of resourcefulness or luck, but rather due to negligence and complicity within the security system.
