Ghana head coach Kim Bjorkegren believes his side were unfortunate not to reach the final of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after their narrow semi-final loss to hosts Morocco on Monday night in Rabat.

The Black Queens pushed the tournament hosts to extra time but eventually fell short, missing out on a first final appearance in over two decades. "So proud of the girls.

They worked so hard," Bjorkegren told reporters after the match. "We were talking about our fatigue level before the game because we had one day less for recovery than Morocco.

We also had a day of travel, so it was really tough from the start." Ghana played 120 minutes for the second consecutive match, having also gone the distance in the quarterfinal against Tunisia.
