Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Frimpong Owen, has praised the Black Queens not only for their impressive run at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, but also for giving his constituents unexpected joy â winning sports bets free of tax.
His comments came during a spirited debate on the floor of Parliament ahead of Ghana's semi-final clash with host nation Morocco. "Now, the good side is, my people in the constituency are so happy that last Saturday, they won bets.
And there was no 10% tax.
There was no 10% tax out of what they won," Owen said, drawing laughter across the chamber.
