The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has confirmed that preliminary engagements have taken place with Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel over plans to host a major concert in Ghana this December.

In an official letter to the NSA earlier today, Vybz Kartel requested the use of the Accra Sports Stadium for what is expected to be his first-ever performance in Africa.

Speaking on the matter, the NSA boss acknowledged the contact but stopped short of revealing specific details. "There has been engagement, and there has been contact; that's all I can say for now," Ankrah told Citi Sports.

He stressed that hosting an international act like Vybz Kartel—just like local giants Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, King Promise, or churches organizing end-of-year conferences—requires careful planning and coordination to ensure the entire facility is used properly. "It's not just about the pitch, but the entire facility being used equitably," he added.
