The Western North Region branch of the says it is utterly gutted by the rising tide of malicious fabrications, doctored stories, and baseless allegations supposedly being peddled by the main opposition political party, the - especially against the government's efforts to combat the illegal mining scourge.

In recent weeks, there have been what appear to be "spirited attempts" by some faceless individuals to undermine and discredit politically exposed persons in the Western North Region with "completely false and baseless claims" of complicity in illegal mining.

Notably among them are the Regional Minister, Willbert Petty Brentum, and the Suaman District Chief Executive, Vasco Obour, both of whom have been fingered in online publications linking them to the "galamsey menace." Addressing a press conference after a Thank You tour of the Western North Region by President John Dramani, the party's Regional Chairman, Michael Aidoo, dismissed the "politically-motivated" and "faceless voice-over" online publications, insisting they are solely meant to tarnish the reputations of the named individuals, who, since assuming office, have rather "fought assiduously" to bring an end to illegal mining. "These acts are not just unpatriotic-they are dangerous to democratic governance and regional stability," he said.

According to him, painstaking investigations conducted by the party have exposed the online video publications as untrue, misleading, and "yet another product of the NPP's propaganda machinery," manufactured to deceive the public.
