The Minister of Energy and Green Transition and Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, , has announced plans by the government to introduce solar-powered vehicles for official use by ministers, heads of departments and agencies.
Speaking on the second episode of the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, July 16, the minister said the initiative seeks to reduce the electricity bills of public institutions while enhancing energy efficiency through the installation of solar rooftops to schools, clinics, and government offices.
According to him, the government had already launched its Electric Vehicle Promotion Programme and commissioned the first EV charger at the premises of the Energy Commission. "As part of government efforts, we are importing the first EV vehicles for government agencies.
Very soon, you will see ministers driving EV vehicles. "We'll roll it out to other departments and heads of agencies, some of who are here, will be driving EV vehicles powered by solar power," he stated.
