President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that the Ministry of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams is spearheading efforts to design modern sports stadiums in Ghana's newly created and underserved regions.

Speaking during a stop in the Western North Region as part of his nationwide ‘Thank You Tour' following his re-election, President Mahama highlighted the government's commitment to expanding sports infrastructure across the country.

He indicated that Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams is currently overseeing the architectural planning and technical assessments for the project. "Under Sports and Recreation, modern sports stadia are to be built in the six newly created regions, as well as in other regions currently without such facilities. "As I speak, the Minister of Sports and Recreation is overseeing the design of modern sports stadia for the six new regions and for those that do not have them. "So, Western North is going to receive a modern sports stadium." The targeted regions include Western North, Oti, North East, Bono East, Savannah, and Ahafo.

These six were carved out of existing administrative regions in 2019 through a national referendum aimed at decentralizing governance and accelerating development.
