The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr , has directed the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate the National Organiser of the NDC, , and National Vice Chairman, Yakubu Abanga, over their alleged involvement in illegal mining.
In a letter dated Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Dr Ayine instructed EOCO to initiate a full-scale investigation into the named individuals, citing 'growing public concern, corroborated by media reports and intelligence' regarding unauthorised mining operations in several districts across the country.
The Attorney General further instructed EOCO to extend its investigations to "any other persons found to be complicit in unlawful mining activities." The directive has triggered a response from on his official Facebook page.
