Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren believes his players deserve their qualification to the quarterfinals in the ongoing 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.  Ghana on Monday, July 14, secured a place in the last eight of the tournament following an emphatic 4-1 win against Tanzania in their final Group C game.

The Black Queens had a poor start to the tournament after a 2-0 defeat to South Africa and a 1-1 draw against Mali.

Following the win, which has propelled the team to the knockout stage, Björkegren, speaking after the game, insisted that his side deserves their qualification. "Ghana missed the knockout stages the last time that they played [in 2018 at home], and we have now made it past the group stages," the Swiss trainer told CAF Media. "The result is very important to us.

We shall take it all in now because the players deserve this.
