Following the chaos that disrupted the Ablekuma North parliamentary primary rerun, Minister for the Interior, Muhammed Muntaka Mubarak, has assured the public that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will not tolerate any form of political vigilantism.

Addressing journalists on Monday, July 14, 2025, the Minister disclosed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has received a firm directive to swiftly investigate the violent incidents that marred the rerun and ensure that those involved are brought to justice. "All of us need to be mindful about the activities of vigilantism and I can assure that not my party, not any group will sit and allow to see the insurgence of vigilantism," he stated.He further revealed that video evidence from the chaotic scenes at the polling stations has been forwarded to the IGP to aid in investigations. "I have spoken to the IGP firmly on all the happenings of Ablekuma North, the videos have been forwarded to him and we've instructed him to swiftly bring the perpetrators to book," Muntaka added.

The Minister reiterated that the NDC government, under President John Dramani Mahama, remains committed to peace and the rule of law, warning that no individuals or groups will be spared if found culpable-regardless of political affiliation.
