A police patrol team on snap check duty at the Akwatia Y-Junction has apprehended a man for unlawful possession of ammunition.
According to police sources, the suspect, identified as Joshua Amenuku, was arrested around 11:30 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025, after officers discovered 15 live BB cartridges packed together in his possession. "He was immediately escorted to the Akwatia Police Station for further interrogation," a police statement said.
Following the arrest, the police conducted a search at Amenuku's residence at Akwatia, where they uncovered an ADLER TULPA pump-action shotgun and an additional five live BB cartridges in his room. "The suspect, however, presented a valid license for the firearm, confirming it as legally acquired. "While the weapon itself was licensed, the possession of the extra cartridges without proper authorisation has raised questions," the statement added.
