The Majority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, , has strongly condemned the conduct of military personnel involved in recent violent incidents at Bawku, including the destruction of a culturally significant statue and acts of brutalities against civilians.

In a press statement issued on Monday, July 14, 2025, Ayariga called for an immediate investigation by the military high command into events that occurred on Sunday, July 13. "I condemn, in no uncertain terms, the unacceptable act of destruction of the statue of the Zugran of the Kusaug Traditional Area, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, by some military personnel," he stated.

He further decried reports of brutality meted out to civilians, describing the actions as 'unacceptable' and urging swift intervention from senior military leadership.

While calling out the military's actions, Ayariga also condemned the violent gun attack by unknown assailants on a vehicle being escorted by soldiers. "The violent gun attack by unknown youth on the vehicle escorted by soldiers is equally condemned, and further attacks must cease," he noted.
