The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, has eulogized his former colleague, the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Kumi, following his passing.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, he recounted memorable moments with the late MP, particularly one in which Ernest Kumi shared his decision not to seek re-election after serving his current term in Parliament.
According to him, he questioned the late lawmaker's decision in an effort to understand his perspective, especially given that many lawmakers aspire to remain in office for more than a single term.
Nyarko Osei stated that, in Kumi's explanation, he cited the challenges he had faced, including the legal battle surrounding his seat and other difficulties, as the reasons behind his decision not to seek re-election. "Ernest, I remember the day I gave you and Hon Forson a lift in my car from Office to the MP's car park just to pick up your vehicles.
