Lawyers for convicted evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, say they will begin legal processes on Monday, July 8, to challenge her 15-year prison sentence.

Speaking to the media shortly after the Accra Circuit Court ruling, Agradaa's lead counsel described the sentence as "excessive," particularly when weighed against the amount involved in the alleged fraud. "Even the amount involved is just GH¢540.

If you are alleged to have defrauded someone of GH¢540 and be sentenced for 15 years… I'm very clear in my mind that Agradaa has been jailed just because of who she is, not because of what she is alleged to have done," the lawyer stated.

The comments follow a high-profile ruling that found Agradaa guilty of defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement.
