The annual Republic Day Lecture organised by the One Ghana Movement has been held, with a strong call for member states within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to work together to enhance sub-regional cohesion, peace, and prosperity.
Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, delivered a stirring address at this year's Republic Day Lecture, urging ECOWAS Heads of State to deepen collaboration in strengthening the regional bloc.
Speaking on the theme "ECOWAS and the Breakaway of the Sahelian States," the former leader, who once ruled as both military and civilian president, emphasised the dangers of overdependence on foreign powers for security and economic development.
