President John Dramani Mahama has announced the Volta Economic Corridor as the central pillar of his administration's newly launched 24-Hour Economy policy, describing it as a bold, transformative initiative to revitalise Ghana's economic landscape through strategic use of the Volta Lake and its surrounding lands.
Speaking at the official launch of the programme on July 2 in Accra, Mahama declared: "Our flagship intervention is the Volta Economic Corridor. "A transformation effort that will unlock the economic and environmental potential of the Volta Lake and its surrounding lands. "Today, we will recreate Kwame Nkrumah's dream.
Today, his dream comes alive again." The corridor, which sits at the heart of the 24-Hour Economy agenda, is set to stimulate activity across agriculture, industry, transport, tourism, and logistics.
According to Mahama, the policy isn't just about longer working hours-it's about unleashing productivity and creating value through well-planned interventions that will boost Ghana's competitiveness and address unemployment.
