President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to transform the role of the Secretary-General of the 24-Hour Economy into an autonomous 24-Hour+ Authority that will report directly to the President across successive governments.

Speaking at the launch of the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development initiative on July 2, 2025, President Mahama said the reform is aimed at building public trust and ensuring greater accountability in national governance. "The Secretary-General will evolve into an autonomous 24-Hour+ Authority that reports directly to the President.

This policy is designed to boost national confidence," he stated.

President Mahama emphasised that the reporting structure is intended to transcend political administrations, ensuring long-term continuity. "When I say report directly to the President, I don't mean only this President.
