The Ghana Gold Board has issued a warning to individuals who trade gold without a license, following 's documentary, which uncovered numerous shops in Wassa-Akropong operating without the necessary licenses. 's documentary titled "The Gold Market That Fuels " featured a small town in the Western Region where gold shops were littered all over the town.

Most of these shops operate without a valid gold trading license.

Because of the lucrative nature of gold trading in Wassa, illegal small-scale mining is prevalent.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, , has noted that all those who trade gold without the new Goldbod license will be arrested and dealt with by the law.
