The King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will today, June 30, 2025, meet the Kusang Traditional Council.
The meeting is part of efforts being put in place to find a lasting solution to the conflict in Bawku that has taken several lives and left many with deadly injuries.
A statement announcing the meeting urged all stakeholders involved in the conflict to cooperate with the ongoing process to reach a lasting and amicable solution.
The Bawku conflict is a long-standing and deeply rooted ethnic and chieftaincy dispute between the Mamprusi and Kusasi ethnic groups in Bawku, Ghana. It's characterized by recurring violence, significant loss of life, and property damage. The conflict is further complicated by political interference, the proliferation of arms, and transnational connections.
