The Eastern Regional Health Directorate is closely monitoring a suspected outbreak of H1N1 influenza at Anum Presbyterian and Boso Senior High Schools in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region, where 69 cases have so far been reported.

According to health officials, an initial batch of 25 samples was sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, with 9 testing positive for the virus.

Disease Control Officers dispatched to the school on Sunday June 29, collected an additional 44 samples for laboratory confirmation as part of the ongoing containment interventions.

Affected students have been isolated while the entire student body has been instructed to wear nose masks as a preventive measure.
