The National Identification Authority (NIA) has suspended the indefinite strike initiated by its division of the Public Services Workers' Union (PSWU).
In a public notice issued on Saturday, June 29, the NIA confirmed that the strike will be temporarily lifted beginning Monday, June 30, following successful engagements with the National Labour Commission (NLC), Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Ministry of Finance, and union leadership. "The Divisional Executive Council of the PSWU has resolved to suspend the strike action with effect from Monday, 30th June 2025," the statement read.
The NIA expressed appreciation for the union's decision, highlighting its commitment to addressing the concerns that led to the industrial action. "Management acknowledges and appreciates the good faith demonstrated by the Union and wishes to assure all staff that their legitimate concerns remain a priority and will continue to receive the urgent attention they deserve." As a result, all NIA offices and registration centres nationwide will reopen and resume full operations on Monday.
The Authority also apologised to the public for any inconvenience caused during the strike period and thanked Ghanaians for their patience.
