In a sweeping anti-narcotics operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested five individuals, including former international footballer Segun George Hunkarin, for attempting to traffic various illicit drugs into Nigeria through key international airports.
Cocaine Hidden in Clothing and Carried Bags NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed that Hunkarin and his associate Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu were arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, after Chinedu arrived from Turkey via Ethiopian Airlines.
During a routine search of his hand luggage, operatives discovered 37 wraps of cocaine weighing 800 grams, concealed inside his clothes.
NDLEA investigations revealed that the drugs were handed to Chinedu in Addis Ababa by an unnamed individual for delivery in Nigeria.
