Municipal Chief of the Nkwanta South, Joseph Antwi, has confirmed a fatality and multiple injuries following renewed ethnic tensions in the municipality.
Gunshots were heard around 2:00 a.m.
on Thursday June 26 in the Oti Region, after a group attempted to perform libation rites as part of preparations for the upcoming Yam Festival.
The act was reportedly resisted by a rival group, reigniting longstanding tensions among the area's ethnic factions.
