Parliament is set to summon officials of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) following public uproar over the Commission's recent decision to increase electricity tariffs by 2.45%, effective July 1, 2025.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, June 26, George Kwame Aboagye, Ranking Member on Parliament's Energy Committee, criticized the tariff adjustment as lacking proper justification and transparency. "We urge PURC to come out and explain to Ghanaians.
I am also going to inform the Committee Chairman to summon PURC to come to the committee and explain to us.
We cannot accept this.
