The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed the resurgence of COVID-19 cases at the University of Ghana, prompting renewed health measures to contain the outbreak.

While all reported cases remain mild and require no hospitalization, health authorities are urging vigilance within the university community and beyond.

In a press release issued on June 26, GHS indicated that, although the World Health Organisation has ended the classification of COVID-19 as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, the threat of sporadic, seasonal outbreaks remains.

Ghana, which has seen a steady decline in cases over the past year, continues to maintain nationwide surveillance in collaboration with the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
