The University of Ghana has suspended all social gatherings on campus following a resurgence of COVID-19 cases within the university community.
The move follows an earlier announcement on Monday, June 23, confirming new suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases on campus.
In response, the university's Health Directorate called for strict adherence to preventive measures, warning of the potential for further spread. "All staff, students, and visitors are strongly advised to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the recommended preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection and community spread," the Directorate cautioned in a statement.
As part of heightened safety measures, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs issued a directive on Thursday, June 26, instructing all student bodies-including GRASAG, SRC, JCRs, and various departmental and school associations-to suspend all ongoing and upcoming events and week celebrations until further notice.
