The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the disbursement of a feeding grant totaling GHS8,989,866.00 to Special Needs Schools across the country.

In a press release signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES stated that the funds, released by the Government of Ghana, cover the feeding grants for all learners enrolled in Special Needs institutions. "The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform the general public-particularly stakeholders in Special Needs Education-that the Government of Ghana has released the feeding grant of Special Needs Schools across the country," the statement read.

According to GES, this move underscores the government's "continued commitment to inclusive education and the wellbeing of learners with special needs." The Service commended the patience and dedication of school heads, staff, and learners during the period leading up to the release of the funds, and also expressed appreciation to the government for prioritising Special Needs Education. "GES remains committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure equitable and quality education for every learner, regardless of ability," the release concluded.

This development is expected to provide much-needed relief to Special Schools, many of which have struggled with delayed feeding grants in recent years.
