The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has thrown its support behind the upcoming National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, urging Ghanaians to use the occasion to reflect on the nation's values and the rising monetisation of politics.
Speaking during a stakeholder meeting with the event's planning committee, led by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah cautioned that Ghana risks heading for disaster if it fails to curb the overwhelming influence of money in its political landscape.
He stressed that without strong, shared values to shape leadership and inspire the youth, the country's development prospects would remain dim.
Asiedu Nketiah described the July 1 event as a timely moment for the nation to reassess its trajectory and direction. "One of the reflections I want us to engage on [is] how to stop the over-monitisation of our politics and our struggle to lead the society and how to deal with it.
