The Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr has officially declared his intention to contest the 's (NPP) flagbearer slot ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, after a meeting with the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the lawmaker said his decision followed extensive nationwide consultations conducted by an exploratory team over the past month.
He explained that informing the General Council and Moderator of the church was a matter of principle and respect for his Christian upbringing, adding that he was also seeking divine guidance. "…A decision has been made that I will contest when the party opens nominations, but to do that, as a product of the church, it will be a disappointment per my tradition, if the moderator of the church hears it for the first time on the radio," he stated.
