The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that concrete steps are being taken to address the concerns of newly posted teachers who picketed at its headquarters on Monday, June 23, over delays in salary payments and the issuance of staff identification numbers.

In a statement issued by the Service, the GES explained that the Ministry of Education has formally requested an extension of the expired financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

The extension, once granted, will allow for the processing of nearly ten months' worth of salary arrears and facilitate the issuance of staff IDs for affected personnel.

The affected teachers, who assumed duty in September 2024, have not received full salaries to date.
