Dr.
Arthur Kennedy, a former presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticised the party's decision to prioritise the election of a flagbearer ahead of broader internal reforms, calling the move self-serving and undemocratic.
Speaking on Channel One TV's The Big Issue on Saturday, June 21, Dr.
Kennedy said he was disheartened by what he sees as deliberate manipulation of the party's internal processes to benefit a select few. "As usual, we seem to be acting in the interest of a small cabal," he said. "It appears to me that this hurriedly concocted proposal is aimed at benefiting a certain small group of people." His comments come in the wake of the NPP's announcement that it will hold its national delegates' conference on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
