The Member of for Krachi East, Nelson Kofi Djabab, has called for intensive public education to combat rampant land degradation, linking the phenomenon to climate change.
Speaking during parliamentary proceedings on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the MP emphasised the need for greater community awareness, building on discussions about recent rainstorms that have affected his constituency and others.
Djabab identified practices such as indiscriminate bush burning, tree felling, and general land degradation as major contributors to environmental depletion, warning that the nation's climate cover is rapidly diminishing.
He noted that the problem, already evident in areas like Nandom, could soon affect the entire country if not urgently addressed.
