Claims about President 's eligibility for a third term have sparked discussions among Ghana's major political parties - the (NPP) and the (NDC) - as well as among ordinary citizens.
Ghana's 1992 Constitution explicitly limits a president to two terms, yet some argue that Mahama's performance warrants an exception.
Among those open to the idea is Freddie Blay, former National Chairman of the NPP, who has stated that he would support the move if the Supreme Court interprets the Constitution in favour of a third term.
However, two Supreme Court judge nominees have weighed in on the matter, asserting that the Constitution does not permit a president to seek a third term.
