Paa Kwesi Schandorf has lauded the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Hon.
Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for his hands-on leadership and concrete results in the ongoing fight against illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.
The Ghanaian journalist and analyst Schandorf emphasized that his praise wasn't based on flattery, but on visible outcomes and a renewed sense of urgency from the ministry. "Why am I revealing this, if I have the permission or I don't?" he asked rhetorically on Woezor TV monitored by MyNewsGh. "It is just to communicate the seriousness of the sector minister and indeed, that same seriousness has translated into some of the gains so far." He cited a recent anti-galamsey operation between Wednesday and Friday in the Ofin Shelterbelt Reserve in the Nkaria Forest as proof of the minister's proactive approach.
The operation led to the seizure of 12 excavators, the retrieval of 2 action pump guns, 2 motorbikes, and the arrest of 5 encroachers, including one Chinese national.
