The Eastern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jamal Konneh, has dismissed calls by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and legal representatives of Akwatia MP Ernest Kumi for an end to the ongoing election petition, arguing that justice must be served before unity can be preached.

His comments follow a plea by Kwame Owiredu, lawyer for Ernest Kumi, urging all parties to let go of legal disputes stemming from the 2024 parliamentary election in Akwatia and to work together for peace and development in the constituency.

In a rebuttal on the Channel One Newsroom on Sunday June 15, Konneh questioned the sincerity of such calls, pointing out the NPP's own history of championing election petitions and urging opponents to seek redress through the courts.
